F. B. Williams Timeline
Information Design
For this project, I was tasked with creating a timeline about the life of the first woman of color to graduate from my university, Frances Barrier Williams, and the associated events that took place during her time. I collaborated with history students and utilized the information that they collected on her life as the data for this piece. I chose to layout the timeline on a W, as the shape of this letter mimics a traditional pattern often utilized in timelines and is the first letter of her surname. The solid label lines put emphasis on her life events whereas the dotted lines are visually secondary while maintaining readability and denote related past events. The color scheme signifies the historic feel of the subject matter and aligns with the appearance of the chosen imagery.
